Inn at Maybury, The

Science fiction enthusiasts probably know the connection between HG Wells and Maybury, but nevertheless it's interesting to learn that Maybury was his home and in War of the Worlds he made generous use of the local landscape, even the inn. The Inn at Maybury today is a celebrated stylish country pub where there's great food, fine ales and a welcoming atmosphere. Stripped wooden floors and a judicious use of fabric lend unmistakable warmth to the décor while the comfy leather sofas are inviting and encourage you to settle down comfortably.

There are sharing plates featuring Greek mezze, crostini or pizzette and smaller dishes such as a red onion tart with goat's cheese and rocket if you're in the mood for something light. Salads, fired pizzas and pastas are enticing while you might want to try out the grill and rotisserie also. The wine list is eclectic and there are chilled beers and fine ales too.
