Inn on the Green, The Description

The hotel is located in the picture postcard village of Cookham Dean, less than hour's drive from London. Housed in a country style cottage, the chic interiors come as a pleasant surprise as there is nothing rustic about it, except for the warm service.

The restaurant has an a la carte menu and offers spinach teriyaki omelette with a green salsa and roast cod with buttered beans and broccoli served with an interesting orange hollandaise sauce. The simple menu offers a selection of cheeses and desserts too. Gary Hollihead runs the state of the art kitchen efficiently and personally supervises the delectable cuisine offered.

The restaurant offers hand picked wines from around the globe and the cocktail bar boasts a log burning fire in winter. In summer, the place is transformed and the wonderful garden and Mediterranean courtyard are thrown open to diners. The chic and intimate dining rooms are a wonderfully romantic dinner setting. The serene settings, great cuisine and friendly service make this a perfect getaway for a relaxed meal.

Your Reviews of Inn on the Green, The

Stephen Emms (25 January 2008)

After some perky prosecco, we ordered a light Fleurie to accompany a selection of beautifully assembled starters - seared tuna nicoise with wasabi watercress dressing that melted in the mouth, and a dish of scallops, black pudding and bacon, which was rich, but not overpowering. It was the mains that were outstanding - confit of duck with potato dauphine and dates matched textures and flavours masterfully, whilst the perfectly pink rump of West Devon lamb, with rosemary truffle jus, a creamy pillow of potato bolongere and juicy mushrooms, stole the show. The puddings fell a little short - a dark chocolate tart with pistachio ice cream and lemon tart with mascarpone, both were soggy on the base. Outside, the fairy-lit lawn where we had espresso had the scent of lavender wafting through the night air, and we agreed the place was magical.
