I have visited and eaten at Island Fusion and must take exception to this gentleman Ben's review. I find it all well and good - as is his right - to like or dislike the food, but to denigrate the restaurant - how dare he? I think the restaurant is very attractive and charming and that a lot of work has gone into making it a very attractive place. I find it quite ironic that he mentions no less than 3 times the word ‘compensation’. I for one will be going back again as I think the food is good and the cocktails are wonderful - maybe he should have had a rum punch - that might have lightened his mood.

I tried this restaurant and was overwhelmed with the décor inside. It was full of copious amounts of low-priced wood nailed into everything, an attempt in trying to recreate a Jamaican beach hut. The waitress was very friendly. We ordered two Island Fusion curries and two cocktails, that’s it, no starters or desserts. The curry came in a poppadom pouch with the rice separately. The curry was the most watery I've seen almost like a stew or broth, with meat in it. I have enjoyed spicy hot food all my life but this was extremely hot for me due to the amount of visible green chillies in the curry. We hardly touched it and we didn’t want to make a fuss. Despite this, the waitress collected two half full plates of food without asking us if there was a problem. It was clear we didn’t like the food and they made no attempt to compensate us, then whacking us with a £41 bill, two curries and two cocktails in very small glasses. In my view this is crazy. The bread and butter were a very small portion and the glasses looked dirty. It was quite clear that the establishment could tell that my date and I were unhappy with the food yet still took the full amount, and they made no attempt to compensate me as they knew I would not be returning. The fact that it was my date’s birthday and the waitress wished her happy birthday still kept them from offering some kind of compensation. I shall never return to this place, all my friends have had the same experience, some worse.
