Italian Caffe, The Description

The stylish Italian Caffe in Glasgow's city centre serves authentic Italian cuisine and fine wines, and is considered to be the first 'enoteca' in Glasgow, which in Italian literally means 'wine library'. Enotecas have evolved from the tavernae vinariae of classical Rome and were places Romans would visit to enjoy a glass of wine and a chat with friends.

The Italian Caffe offers its guests a choice of fifty wines, and twenty eight are available by the glass.

Share a mixed platter of Italian meats and salamis before embarking on an exciting Italian viaggio. The extensive menu opens with meat and poultry dishes that could include rolled suckling pig roasted with fresh herbs, and confit of duck with Madeira sauce.

Lovers of seafood will rejoice in the olive oil roasted swordfish, and zuppa di pesce or mixed seafood casserole. Vegetarian dishes range from salads, to buffalo mozzarella with roasted vine tomatoes and peppers. There are pizzas and pasta too. End with a hard to resist glazed banana tart with amaretti ice cream.
