Bridge (28 January 2009)

I've eaten dinner there several times now, and called in for early evening drinks too. The service is fantastic, the atmosphere both relaxing and upbeat. There is not only a wide selection of wines, but also gins. Valentines Day 2008 was particularly good, the food is always different and with a slight Mediterranean twist, for those who only eat British they do a brilliant steak - it's definitely a man sized portion though.

The Strickers (13 January 2009)

Six hungry adults, a twelve year old, a six year old and a two year old turn up unannounced on a miserable Sunday lunchtime to be told they're only serving Sunday lunch, which consisted of roast chicken, beef or ham. We request a vegetarian option and smaller meals for the children and nothing was too much trouble for the staff in this lovely bistro. A good selection of drinks was offered including local beer. The food was very good and tasted freshly prepared. Portions were huge and a good quantity of vegetables was served separately. A delicious goats’ cheese salad with pine nuts was served for the veggies with the option of Yorkshire pudding, if desired. We all cleared our plates and some of us had room for delicious puddings. The children wanted ice-cream and this was provided without complaining. The coffee was good and served with mini biscotti. The members of staff were pleasant and attentive without being overbearing and I can honestly say that it was a really nice experience and didn't cost the earth either. I would have no hesitation in recommending this place and would definitely go back again.
