Hoylake Road in Moreton has its fair share of restaurants and J and K enters the fray catering for the hungry hordes that arrive after a day of retail therapy at Moreton Cross. Inside it's a beautifully-lit place with just the right amount of glow to soothe your nerves and the artefacts and paintings are a nod to the cuisine served here.

The menu covers plenty of ground and it is encouraging to notice that dishes from all over China are featured in the carte. Crispy aromatic duck with pancakes, trimmings and hoi sin sauce, and pork with lemongrass on prawn cracker spark the appetite. Moving onto main courses expect to see beef treated in a sensational manner, in satay or oyster sauce, or fried slices with cashew nuts in a bird's nest. Chow mein arrives in a conventional form with mixed seafood and a spicy Singapore vermicelli version.

The family evening menu at J and K is a definite crowd-puller; available only on certain days it's very good value for money.
