Jacoby's previous life as an inn, a public house, bakery and a motorcycle repair shop conjures up an image of a structure of a considerable age and complexity. After a major renovation, this Grade II listed timber framed building re-opened in 2002 with enhanced exposed beams, feature staircase and glass atrium.

The restaurant's menu takes in influences from across the world and owes loyalty to the seasons; so if you decide to pop in with friends there's the oriental platter of spring rolls, chicken teriyaki, crayfish tempura and crispy duck rolls to share. Robust main courses of slow cooked lamb shank are accompanied by creamy mash, red wine and pearl onion sauce while the char-grilled tuna comes with a herb and caper dressing.

A light snack of deep fried scampi or roasted Mediterranean vegetable tortilla wrap, with a drink in tow on the terrace or at the bar could help you kick off the evening.
