If I was looking for a recommendable Chinese restaurant I would tend not to head for the heart of Cambridgeshire, but according to the local grapevine that's exactly what The President of China did when grounded at Stansted Airport a couple of years back. An £1,800 takeaway must surely merit consideration for an entry in the Guinness Book of Records?

The cuisine is Peking and Szechuan and the wide range of dishes available, on top of the four set meals, is impressive. It would be hard to find better quality anywhere in its category in the area.

Staff are friendly and generally helpful and a good choice of wines and beers helps the party along in air-conditioned comfort. Given that the average spend per head for a very satisfying meal is around £15 one can only speculate about the number of people in the President's entourage - or perhaps he included the airport staff as well?
