Jashan Description

Jashan is Indian for 'celebration' and this restaurant, as with the others in this successful chain, is designed to be a celebration of Indian food. The menu takes its inspiration from the many varied cuisines of India to provide an interesting array of dishes, all illustrated with a colour photograph to ensure you know exactly what it is you are ordering. The quality is high and there is a great choice of vegetarian delights and excellent homemade breads.

Having visited this restaurant on numerous occasions over the last 6 to 7 years, I am surprised this establishment is not more well known. I have dined in various Indian restaurants in London including South East, North London Central London and Asian hotspot areas like Wembley, Ealing and Southall. I still have not found an Indian Restaurant that can consistently match the taste and authenticity of Jashan.

Each dish is prepared and served to perfection. It is difficult to recommend any particular dish as individual’s preference will vary. I would compare the authenticity of the dishes to that you could expect from a restaurant in India.

Yes, it is very, very busy and would recommend booking in advance especially for Fridays and Saturday. When you get there you will expect a full house and waiters rushed of there feet - but there is a very good reason it is so busy - the food is out of this world!

Waiters are very helpful and accommodating to individual preferences. I know it is expensive but I would have to say it is worth every penny.

So often Indian restaurants make the dish not prepare it. More often than not the sauce is from a tin. This is not the case with Jashan. This gives it the wonderful aroma and flavours that I would expect from a quality restaurant.

Jashan should be awarded Michelin Stars. I hope those of you that have visited and dined at Jashan will agree.

I visited this restaurant on Sat 23rd Sept and will be making repeat visits. I was looking for a change from the old madras/vindaloo/dhansak/korma offerings and I found it. Service was good, as was the food. I chose deep-fried chicken with chillies (quite hot!) followed by a very rich Goan Prawn Curry. This restaurant has many dishes that I've never heard of (probably because they're genuine Indian dishes) and look forward to trying some more. Fortunately there are photos of all the dishes so you have a pretty good idea of what you're ordering.

There's quite an extensive range of vegetarian dishes as well.
