Jesmond Dene House

I went to Jesmond Dene House for the second time and was extremely disappointed. The quality of the food was good, until I was served raw monkfish. The rest of the table received perfectly seared fish, but mine arrived uncooked in the centre and the management refused to apologise let alone replace my dish. We felt the waiting staff were not professional enough for a restaurant of this calibre, and we overheard a conversation between two waiters complaining about one of their customers. I asked to speak to the restaurant manager about my concerns, especially the fish; however, he was not interested in my complaint, and waved it away. All in all, a poor experience brightened by a great dessert.

I have been to Jesmond Dene House on several occasions and have never been disappointed. Our previous visit was on Saturday 8th December 2007 for a birthday celebration. The food is fantastic albeit nouvelle cuisine, lovely atmosphere as always. There’s no rush to leave. It’s a bit expensive but worth it for an event.
