Jones Cafe Bistro

Having heard from some friends about Jones we arrived expecting great things and were not disappointed. The friendly staff ushered us to our table and produced a bread board with yummy garlic butter and olives, a good start. We were then told the menu had recently changed but any old favourites could be catered for. My husband went for the deep fried squid with papaya salsa, which was nice and crispy with a sweet tang and I had the cod and chorizo fishcake, which was again nice and spicy. Our main courses where perfectly cooked, mine being a belly of pork with sweet potato mash, and my husband choosing the rib eye with a watercress butter - both were to die for. We skipped the puddings and just had coffee but sat there wishing we had room for desserts as we heard a lot of ‘oh’s’ and ‘ah’s’ from the tables around us as they tucked into their sweets. Top marks all round and another trip to Jones is on the cards.

I eat at Jones Bistro quite regularly. It's a really lively restaurant whether in the evening or a big lazy breakfast on the weekend. I've always found the service quite friendly and no complaints there. The food is reasonably priced, well presented and quite delicious. It does get busy so best to book ahead for the evenings. For anyone visiting Leicester I'd recommend it for a meal with friends or colleagues - there isn't a huge choice in and around the city centre in terms of bistro- restaurant dining that has the friendly buzzing atmosphere that Jones provides. The ambience and lighting are perfect for an evening of wine, food and conversations. Sad to hear that other reviewers had bad experiences - perhaps try again.
