Situated just off Chinatown's Lisle Street on Leicester Street, Joy King Lau tends to attract those diners more in the know rather than simply passing trade. Also, not being aimed at the predictable tourist market it can afford to be a little more adventurous with its menu allowing you to break free of the classic Chinese options in favour of something new such as fried oysters or octopus.

Dim sum is served before 5pm and the restaurant is spread over three floors, so quickly grab a table before you work your way through plates of mixed meat croquettes, crispy spring rolls, wafer wrapped prawns or grilled pork meat buns. For some less guilt inducing pleasures try the steamed variety of scallop dumplings and curried squids.
