Julie's Restaurant & Bar Description
A relic from the 1970s flower power era - and their look has changed little since, but why alter a winning formula - when all the trendy beautiful people packed this Notting Hill eaterie, it has aged gently without an abundance of wrinkles.
If only that were also true of its 1970s clientele, those that are still around that is! It remains a consistently enjoyable experience - though once you could dine there well for a fiver!
However, now it veers more towards the side of modern British food rather than traditional, though they still serve their famous Steak and Kidney Pie during the winter. Other dishes could include: Julie's wild boar sausages with olive oil mash and sautéed apples; seared calf's liver with crispy bacon, olive mash and pomegranate sauce or grilled lamb cutlets with gingered lentils, fresh mint and vinegar sauce
Its food continues to please its loyal clientele, but a few find it a touch on the pricy side these days. Sunday lunch has always been a speciality, at £22 for two courses, or £26 for three. Whilst its quaint interior, with the odd hideaway in the corners, is perfect for imbuing the right mood in a new fancy, when you can tuck yourselves into one of alcoves and create a really romantic mood - the rest is up to you!
Fixed Lunch
- £24 (2 courses incl coffee) to £28 (3 courses incl coffee)

I celebrated my thirtieth birthday there last weekend and had a great time. We were a party of twenty and everyone loved the garden room and the food. My husband called ahead to organise a cake for me and said the manager was very helpful in recommending a local cake maker and organising everything. I’d definitely recommend it for a special celebration and look forward to going back there for a quiet evening.

It is a wonderful restaurant – downstairs, where I was first taken more than twenty years ago. It is managed by the wonderfully efficient and friendly Sherraz. It is one of London’s best kept secrets because the team who run it are so nice and so good. The food is consistently lovely and the wine list has sensibly priced offerings. Overall it stands out as a genuinely nice place to eat and relax in, and hopefully will still be going in another twenty years.
