Kalpna Restaurant

We went to Kalpna for an early evening dinner before a show and had a fantastic meal. We told the staff that we had to be at the theatre in an hour and they were more than happy to accommodate us. The service was speedy and friendly, and the food was even better. I had the sam saveera, a dish I had never tried before and would definitely recommend this Indian vegetarian restaurant.

We went to Kalpna Restaurant in Edinburgh yesterday and had an unpleasant dining experience owing to a strange rule that they tend to impose on their customers. There were four adults and two children in our group and because some of us weren’t really hungry, we ordered two starters and three main courses. I was taken aback on being told by the waiter that we will not be served any food until we ordered one more main course because it was their rule. When we asked to see the manager, he simply sent the word reinforcing the ‘rule’ through the waiter rather than coming to our table. We tried to explain that whatever we had ordered would be enough for us but they were not willing to listen to us. I am totally perplexed by this attitude.
