Kama Sutra
331 Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow, G2 3HU
Let's leave on one side the frisson of excitement occasioned by the name of this attractive Indian restaurant in Sauchiehall Street, which describes itself as "sultry, sassy and a hot hit from every angle" and concentrate on the quality food and efficient service. Amongst the starters we find all the usual suspects listed, but the menu becomes even more interesting when it heads for the main courses. A Tibetan dish called ting-sa caught my eye and there are some wonderful variations on kormas and traditional curries. In recent years Balti dishes have swept the board, and one is only fleetingly put off by hearing that Balti translated means 'bucket' - Kama Sutra has its share.Let's leave on one side the frisson of excitement occasioned by the name of this attractive Indian restaurant in Sauchiehall Street, which describes itself as "sultry, sassy and a hot hit from every angle" and concentrate on the quality food and efficient service.

In recent years Balti dishes have swept the board, and one is only fleetingly put off by hearing that Balti translated means 'bucket' - Kama Sutra has its share. The Goanese cuisine of shakuti is full of delicate flavours, with a number of fish dishes, always I think the real test of Indian cooking. The customary range of bottled beers and lagers is well supported by a wine list that takes heed of the increasing desire to match the cuisines of the East with the wines of the West.

REVIEWS OF Kama Sutra
Graham (26 October 2007)
I don't know why the previous comments were so poor, but the last time we went to the Kama Sutra, the food was fantastic and the service, excellent. That was in 2006. I suppose it depends what you like, but out of the many Indian takeaways and restaurants I have been to in Scotland, their pakora is fantastic and their main courses fresh and hot. Hopefully they had changed chef between our visit and the previous comments.
Sue McDonald (28 June 2005)
Good location, but extremely poor service. Maybe the day we went (Tuesday) the staff were overworked. But the food was alright though nothing to write home about. The ambience was definitely below par for a supposedly high profile restaurant. Not worth the trouble of a visit unfortunately.
