From the outside Kappa looks slightly more like a café than a restaurant; however, don't be put off by that because you are in for a gourmet treat at relatively reasonable prices if you step inside. There is no escaping the fact that it's a rather long, thin room, which is presided over by the Korean chef-owner beavering away at the far end in full view of most of the diners, but even so, the layout allows for a decent amount of space between the tables.

The menu is enticing, with many old favourites in the large selection of nigiri sushi and sashimi, while the uramaki, the inside out version of maki, of grilled eel with cucumber and sweet soy sauce is particularly notable. Teppanyaki dishes such as beef yakiniku with fruity garlic soy sauce and black cod with sweet miso marinade are worthy of a second helping too.

Finally a word about Kappa's drinks and wine list, which is short but has some interesting bottles on it, and beer lovers have a friend in Asahi.
