Kasturi
57 Aldgate High Street, London, EC3N 1AL
Located in London's East End along a stretch of Aldgate High Street, Kasturi refers to the fragrance found in a rare musk deer. The interior of the restaurant is all bare wooden floors, high backed chairs, white walls sporting brightly coloured paintings and natural lighting courtesy of a line of skylights in the roof. It is fascinating to see the progress in quality that has been made by Indian restaurants in London; no more the hastily thrown together curries, instead they pay real attention to their preparation. On the menu you'll find North Indian dishes, such as chicken afgani lababdar cooked with julienned onions, tomatoes and capsicum, or fresh tilapia fillets with a spicy yogurt dressing. It is fascinating to see the progress in quality that has been made by Indian restaurants in London; no more the hastily thrown together curries, instead they pay real attention to their preparation. Kasturi specialises in pakhtoon cuisine, which originated from the North-West Frontier Province of a formerly undivided India. The essence of this cuisine is in the preparation of kababs and grills, utilising the juices of meats and vegetables, thereby minimising the use of fat and much healthier as a result.

REVIEWS OF Kasturi
Zaynab_K (14 November 2010)
Simply great food and great staff! Perfect for business lunches and dinners, but I've been here many times with friends too. Try their mixed sheekh kebab, chicken bhuna Hyderabadi and the prawn malabari. It also offers great choice for vegetarians as they have a good vegetarian thali. My vegetarian favourites are the Rajasthani bhindi, chana masala and sag aloo. All in all, a highly recommended place!

They serve really good Indian food. This is really how food tastes back in India. Not just hot chillies overpowering everything else but a full palate of various blended spices.
