Katie's Diner Description

Katie's Diner was established in 2000 by Geoff and Kate Ness. Over the years its reputation has grown and it has built up a large base of loyal customers. It has often been recommended as one of the best American style restaurants in Edinburgh. It has resisted pressure to expand, preferring instead to continue to offer a personal service as if you were in your own home with Kate doing the cooking and Geoff serving.

They are especially proud of their steaks and burgers, sourcing the best Scottish beef available, but it has a menu to suit most tastes with all dishes being freshly prepared. Situated overlooking Brunsfield Links with panoramic views over the meadows to Arthur's Seat makes Katie's Diner an ideal place for a romantic meal and its BYOB policy also makes it a good choice for those on a tighter budget.

I have been to Katie’s Diner just once and it was not bad; two thumbs up.

We were looking for a restaurant with a friendly atmosphere and good quality food, well we certainly found one. It would probably be easier to list the negative points about Katie’s, as there are so many positive ones. My one negative point would be that I stay too far away to go there frequently. Geoff is very friendly and makes you feel so welcome. The menu is superb and between us we had chicken and steaks so we tried a bit of variety. That was of course after our wonderful starters. My mouth still waters just thinking back to the food. Of course to round it off you need to have a little something from the dessert menu. The best bit though is when you are presented with the bill. It has to be the best value for money meal I have eaten in the UK, and I've eaten in quite a few. Well I hope that Geoff and Katie read this review, as well as their future customers. A small message from us, try to continue to resist the cry for expansion. You have a gem and a recipe for success. Thank you.
