This is exotica, unrestrained and unrestricted, in full glory. At Kazan, whether you are in Victoria or Houndsditch, it really doesn't matter, because once you enter the opulent surroundings of either of these Turkish restaurants in London, it's all too easy to soak up the rich and luxurious decor. More significantly, the menu is a rare feat, a compilation of delectable dishes, some which go back to more than 500 years, infused with delicate and authentic spices, imported from the Anatolian region of Turkey.

If you thought that the decor was decadent, the menu will prove you wrong, while at the same time debunking clichés about kebabs and typical Turkish fare. At Kazan, starters could include fire roasted king prawns, marinated in a chilli and lime sauce followed by a main course of gyuvèch, chunks of chicken or lamb simmered with Mediterranean vegetables and served with basmati rice. Finish with the sutlyàsh, a rich and creamy rice pudding or the well known baklava and there's a wide range of excellent cocktails, wines and spirits.
