Khew

With ex Nobu and Nahm chef Paul Day in charge of the kitchen you can expect interesting things from the menu at Khew, a new oriental eatery on London's South Molton Street. The décor is also pretty impressive comprising of what they refer to as a raw bar on the ground floor and a restaurant and bar in the basement. Starters range from the likes of shichimi miso soup, to great dim sum such as crispy prawn and coriander dumplings, or black pepper chilli ribs. There's also a varied choice of salad and tempura dishes and mains such as drunken saké chicken with mushrooms and ho fun noodles. Main course dishes cost between £10.75 and £14.50, or alternatively you can go for the set menu at £12.95 for four courses.

Jan Moir in The Daily Telegraph wrote in March 2003: "London has never been well served by crustacea bars and the ones that we do have tend to be old-fashioned or bland and owned by Terence Conran. Not only does Khew bring a fresh and colourful twist to the ancient concept but their wares are all prepared or cooked expertly. It is a rare treat to get shellfish cooked so nicely."
