King's Restaurant Description
Widely regarded as the oldest surviving English inn, the Angel and Royal Hotel, as it is known today, is a historic and much loved property many guests have enjoyed over the last eight-hundred years. Seven past Kings of England have stayed at The Angel and it was in the magnificent King's Dining Room that Richard III in 1483 signed the death warrant for the Duke of Buckingham.
Their stunning first floor restaurant, the historic King's Room is only open on Friday and Saturday evenings and for Sunday lunch. On offer is a weekly changing menu of Modern British dishes that are created using quality produce from award winning suppliers around the British Isles.
Feast on creations such as smoked mackerel with horseradish cream, papardelle and porcini mushrooms with fresh parmesan; pork tenderloin stuffed with sausage, meat, and herbs, and desserts of blueberry samosas or summer pudding with clotted cream.
Carefully selected wines from all over the world make up the drinks list, together with champagne, pudding wines, and liqueurs.

Your Reviews of King's Restaurant

This is a fantastic place. The dining rooms were done up beautifully, to a high standard. The members of staff were very professional and attentive, and the food was lovely. They served fresh bread rolls just after we ordered, then I had a bacon and chicken salad as a starter. My main was lovely, pork belly looked good too. My father had the salmon, which looked fantastic. For dessert I went for an orange cheesecake. The presentation was very nice, strawberries and a small cute jug of cream. It was a delightful cheesecake, just perfect in everyway. I highly recommend the place and have no idea what the other reviewer was saying. If it has declined in any way, then I wish I could have come before as it was delightful enough for me and my family.

It was sad to see the decline in what was a quality restaurant with efficient service. It was almost deserted at my last visit compared to being always busy previously, and when the food arrived it was apparent why. We went for Sunday lunch, and were greatly disappointed; coriander with grated carrot! Coriander is the last thing that goes with roast beef, especially when so much was used, and the smell was quite overpowering. It was all wrapped up in a steamed cabbage leaf, which had all the vegetables apart from potato. The gravy also was so thick; it was like dark treacle with a thick skin on it when it arrived. The service also was quite slapdash.
