Kitchen, The Description
A small informal restaurant with only nine tables specialising in fresh local fish and shellfish. The menu also has 'food from around the world' and a good vegetarian menu. Pretty well everything is homemade, from the bread with the starter, sauces, vegetarian dishes, desserts, through to fudge with your coffee.
The Kitchen is owned by Ian and Vanessa Bateson; Vanessa produces the 'daily bread' and all of the desserts except for the ice cream which is made locally for them. They both make all the dressings, sauces etc., and their fish is from Cornish 'day boats', with the exception of the odd exotic.
Ian cooks in the evening and Vanessa waits table. Sensibly, Ian does not like to intrude upon your dinner, but would always welcome you to come into the kitchen for a chat at the end of the evening when things have calmed down a bit.
