Kitchin N1 Description

Watch the flavours of the orient come alive in Kitchin NI where diners are invited to explore 'the culinary world in one kitchen'. Drawing inspiration from the spice routes that involved merchandising of spices and herbs, a trade that was once popular with Asian civilisations, now the restaurant charts a different route, leading to an address in Caledonia Street, and a gastronomic one at that, embracing cuisines of Thailand, China, India and Italy.

The menu changes regularly and chicken satay grilled aubergines, butternut pumpkin curry, and spicy mussels emerge from the Thai section. A foray into the Indian territory could reveal a chicken tikka, lamb rogan josh and pilaf rice, while China unveils deep fried crispy seaweed, butterfly prawns and squid in green pepper and black bean. Finally garlic mushrooms, calamari, and freshly made cakes, pâtisseries and sweets make for some notable Italian fare.

Even bottled beers are evenly represented at Kitchin NI and include Kingfisher, Peroni, Tsing Toa and Singha from Thailand.

I was not overwhelmed by Kitchin but I was definitely happy with my experience. The prices of all the menus are pleasing - fantastic value and quality, as far as buffets go. The staff were friendly and I felt they could have checked on us once or twice more although my personal opinion is that I don't go for a buffet-styled meals to be waited on, I go to serve myself when I want - the beauty of buffets. The food that I tasted was beautiful and there is a vast selection on offer - what is brilliant and unique to other buffets I have been to, is the kitchen is central to the restaurant floor - so the chefs and what's being cooked is on display for all to see. As I said, I was not dazzled out of my seat but for the price I paid, I left Kitchin very happy. I would definitely recommend anyone in the area or anyone who has an hour to kill before a train to give it a go - it will not break the bank!

Kitchin N1 is a dining experience for people whose expectations are as high as the restaurant's quality of orthography. The restaurant has an 'all-you-can-eat' policy, which is made especially exciting by their policy of withdrawing many menu items and replacing them on the sumptuously-appointed buffet bar with shiny stainless steel platters - it's the latest word in design chic. The clientele is equally classy - a blend of cutting-edge 'Brentford' style and 'Leytonstone' affluence. Eating at Kitchin N1 is an experience that will stay with you long after you've left. I certainly had a few treasured memories the morning after - the exciting aromas, the intoxicating sounds and textures. Go there, and I can guarantee that you won't regret it.
