Last Saturday we held our 40th wedding anniversary party at Korks Wine Bar. Chris, the owner really put himself out and arranged a superb evening for us and approximately 60 guests. We had an excellent champagne reception, delicious buffet and a really good live jazz band to dance to - what a great evening, all our guests are still talking about it. Thanks again Chris to you and your staff - a night we shall never forget.

Korks wine bar has been in Otley for more years than I care to remember with their genials host Chris Payne still meeting and greeting. Despite the roadwork outside, my recent visit showed standards haven't slipped and the Bondgate restaurant still offers tremendous value for money in these credit crunch times. The early bird at £13.95 for three courses on the barside board is particularly good. Three of us had smoked haddock fishcakes and the fourth had eggs Benedict from the main list. Two of us opted for pancetta chicken with wild mushrooms, another for the superb salmon and the fourth slow roast lamb again from the wider choice, £16.95, all backed by a selection of green vegetables. Above the hubbub of the Saturday evening we were glad that a Chilean Pinot Grigio eased the throat before three of us had desserts, double glazed crème brûlée and warm raspberry pavlova. It’s a fine meal to round off our day out in Wensleydale.
