I was a baby in 1963 and was told that as a baby I had been into Manze with my grandparents. I think my first memory of eating in Manze was at the age of seven when my father took me in there for lunch one day. Since then, I have sat with family and best friends through the years from grandparents George and Mary Sellwood to friends like David Renolds and many more. For my 48th birthday treat I went from Swindon where I now live and made a dash for Walthamstow to wave a sort of good bye to my old haunts as my mother and sister have moved away from London and Manzes was where I wrapped up my trip. So many memories and such fantastic food - it never disappointed, double pie and mash, a mug of tea and a few photos. I think when I die I want a tint service held at my favourite back table. My most recent visit to Manze was on this Saturday on June 2011 at around 2 PM. Thank you Manzes for stopping time. You somehow have managed to leave the clock outside on the street while you keep serving up the same great taste inside that great time pie and mash historic capsule that is 76 Walthamstow High Street. Never disappointed and always so pleased with the service, the food and the way you keep history of mine included. Thank you.

My family came from the East End but moved to Suffolk when I was eight. I still visit mainly for the market and the pie and mash, which bring back so many memories. I have even converted my husband, who is a true Suffolk lad born and bred. I will be visiting next week to stock up on pies and liquor to freeze. Here’s to many more successful years.
