Chef-proprietor Christophe Pelletier deserves much credit for the outstanding French fare at La Bagatelle; having honed his culinary skills whilst working for the Rothschilds and the Swedish Royal Palace, this Brougham Place restaurant serves well as a setting for his talent. Dishes are rustic and remain well within French territory with an emphasis on seasonality. The menu changes regularly and opens with starters of rough terrine of game, pork and truffles flavoured with Armagnac with red currant jelly, and squid, mussels and scallops sautéed in fresh ginger and spring onions. A fillet of Scottish pork with a grainy mustard sauce and prime rib eye steak with wild mushrooms and whisky make for a delectable main course, followed by bread and butter pudding with apricots and fresh custard.
