La Cucina Italiana Description
A delightful fine dining establishment in the picturesque village of Uphill, once known as Demetris Bistro, has quickly earned a reputation as one of Weston-super-Mare's better Italian restaurants. Unlike its more popular sibling, Demetris Taverna, which is constantly abuzz with activity and celebrated conviviality, La Cucina Italiana has a distinctive level of quiet elegance and style where the locals feel as comfortable as those who arrive from further afield.
The menu and daily specials change regularly to reflect the seasons, and specialities of the house such as whole leg of lamb roasted in the oven for six hours with rosemary and garlic, served with baby onions in balsamic vinegar and French bean salad, are ideal for sharing. Starters of squid cooked with tomato, peppers and Italian sausages, and asparagus rolled in Parma ham lead the way, and main courses like calves' liver with caramelised onions, balsamic and red wine rarely deviate from the Italian route.
The well-chosen, globe-trotting wine list at La Cucina is carefully designed to complement the food on offer.

Booking a table for eighteen is never easy but the lovely staff at La Cucina were great. We pre-ordered our food and it all arrived promptly and was totally delicious. The seafood pasta was packed with seafood, the pizzas were perfect, the pasta fresh and tasty, the crème brûlée was creamy and a dream. The house white a Chilean Sauvignon Blanc was crisp, dry and reasonable. It is a lovely looking restaurant, has enthusiastic and efficient staff and was an absolute pleasure.
