La Fontana
17 Clifton Street, Blackpool, FY1 1JD
The name literally translates to 'the fountain' and the place not just helps in creating that special relaxing atmosphere, but also brings to life the ambitious endeavours of the proprietor, head waiter and head chef, who have between them many years of experience in the hospitality trade. The interior is designed to mimic a lively Italian courtyard with a convivial atmosphere, and the abundance of fun, food and laughter make for an ideal evening out on Clifton Street. Nibble on deliciously crunchy calamari rings with lemon and tartare sauce for dipping, or homemade pâté cooked with brandy and cream. Then an appetising selection of pizza and pasta could follow or head straight to try main courses of slow roasted lamb shank served in a rich red wine, rosemary and mint sauce, or scampi provençale. The name literally translates to 'the fountain' and the place not just helps in creating that special relaxing atmosphere, but also brings to life the ambitious endeavours of the proprietor, head waiter and head chef, who have between them many years of experience in the hospitality trade. REVIEWS OF La Fontana
Me and the wife (27 October 2010)
La Fontana is a lovely little place! My wife and I dined out there for our 5th year anniversary last week and it was perfect in every single way. Food, service, atmosphere and a cheeky little congratulation from the waiter totally made the night! They had large parties in as well which added to the atmosphere of the place creating a real vibrant atmosphere! Please do check it out, it came highly recommended from friends and family, and they were not wrong. Best Italian in Blackpool, by far!
Billm (1 September 2010)
Fell into this restaurant by default really. Having gone to the El Casaro Benny's Italian across the road for twenty some years we turned up one night to find it closed. We went across the road to La Fontana got a tremendous reception by the owners wife and had some terrific food. The owner came out to see if we where satisfied, great night and have been back several times since.
