La Gritta Restaurant in Cala Fornells is 'somewhat hidden, but when people find it, they never forget it', so say Tomás and Juan who now manage it. La Gritta started offering Mediterranean and International cuisine in 1983 and since then practically everything is made on the premises using high quality products. For over eight years now, Antonio Salas has run the kitchen where he takes care to prepare homemade pastas and desserts, fresh fish, and the best cuts of succulent meats. In addition to the delicious cuisine, the restaurant boasts incredible views of the ocean and the Bays of Paguera and Santa Ponsa. Since first eating in La Gritta when I first came to live in Mallorca in 2006, it has become one of my favorite restaurants on the island. The food is always absolutely superb and the service is second to none. Dinner on the little private terrace is such a wonderful experience that I have been back and time again with numerous family, friends and work colleagues who have all spoken about it for weeks afterwards. I was there on Monday with three friends who were here for just three days and this morning when they left they told me that the meal on the little terrace there had been the absolute highlight of their break. I'm going again tonight with two clients and I just know they're going to be blown away! Cannot wait, what shall I have? Solomillo la grita? Lubina a la sal? Tartaro? no tonight I fancy with the paletilla de cordero! Oh and the portofino salad to start!
