A traditional family operated Italian restaurant, still in the hands of the original owners after 40 years La Lanterna attracts professionals during the day, but in the evening assumes a chameleon mantle as it bustles with families and visitors to the city. The kitchen sources seafood from the local market and offers grilled lobster and langoustines as house specialties. The interior glows with wooden beams and warm colours providing a welcoming setting for romantic dinners and business lunches.
Deep fried fresh squid in a lemon batter with garlic mayo and grilled breast of chicken on ribbon pasta with smoked Italian ham and herbs hint at the Mediterranean feast to follow. Rich beef stew marinated in red wine and rosemary served with puree potatoes and puff pastry and pan fried escalope of veal with spaghetti Napoli meet the expectations set from the start. Homemade cheesecake and tiramisu maison offer a mildly decadent end to the meal.

A fantastic Italian restaurant hidden away in Hope Street. The authentic Italian food they serve, is to die for. It has excellent atmosphere and a decent wine list.

This has to be the best Italian Restaurant we have been to - anywhere. Excellent food every time and there have been many times over the years! Risotto is to die for! Christopher and staff ensure a warm welcome and the best of service! Five star recommendation!
