La Pharmacie

80 Corporation Road, Middlesbrough, TS1 2RF

Formally known as Purple Onion, La Pharmacie is a themed restaurant with a pharmacy cross sign sited on almost every other wall. The décor is contemporary with a French finish to the doors and windows and the dining area is spacious and well lit with crimson subdued lights creating a mystifying yet pleasant ambiance. Chef Kevin Whiffin brings to the table some unfussy modern European dishes that are heavily inclined to the French, Italian and English cooking styles. Starters such as haddock and leek fish cakes or chicken liver parfait served with onion marmalade and toasted bread are curtain raisers for wholesome mains that include pan fried salmon with caper risotto and char-grilled rib-eye steak.

REVIEWS OF La Pharmacie

Bev (20 February 2010)

I was in Middleborough for a few days on business and a colleague and I visited La Pharmacie for a meal on a Tuesday of February 2010. The welcome was friendly but not intrusive, service was impeccable and the food was amazing! We both chose the sirloin steak with chunky chips and stilton sauce - it was hot, fresh and extremely tasty. We also had dessert which was of the same standard. Thank you for one of the nicest meals/ambience I have had out in some time.

My partner and I dined at La Pharmacie on New Years Eve and what can I say? Perfect. The food was delightful and the service was impeccable. A brilliant restaurant and I wish it the best in its future.
