La Porte des Indes Description
La Porte Des Indes, meaning 'gateway to India', gives a strong indication of what this restaurant is all about. Under the same ownership as The Blue Elephant, in amongst the spectacular setting of palm trees, colourful glass domed ceiling and marble staircase and impressive waterfall, you'll find a diverse selection of regional dishes from all over India, with particular emphasis on the culinary delights of the old French colonies in the south. Spicing tends to be on the mild side, and descriptions are a touch Americanised, scallops are always 'plump and juicy' or prawns are 'crunchy, golden fried'. If you can't decide what to choose or simply want to sample a variety of dishes then opt for the well-constructed menu maison offering a superb selection.

This is my second favourite Indian restaurant in London. The décor is brilliant - a colonial club complete with palms. The food is excellent and the staff were helpful. It’s just a couple of minutes away from Marble Arch tube.
