We went for a special occasion meal and wanted to treat ourselves. The wines were very expensive and it didn’t even taste nice. As for the meal, the starters of homemade soup were amazing and we thought we had made the right choice eating there. However, the mains of lamb on mash potato were a total disappointment with two small pieces of lamb and the mash potatoes were lumpy and had too much mustard. The meal cost over £80 and we were not full, and did not stay for dessert.

Visited many times but most recently in May 2007. Outstanding restaurant. Great food, good value, stunning Jacobean dining room, friendly staff. Our favourite restaurant.
