Considered to be one of the finest London restaurants to open in 2001, La Trompette is thought to be very posh nosh in Chiswick, though given the reputation that they have built up very quickly, it is not surprising that their clients come from far and wide, rather than from their front doorstep.

It is greatly to their credit that in under three years they achieved the top AA Restaurant Guide Award of Restaurant of the Year in England, and then gained a Michelin star in 2007.

La Trompette is a horse from the same stable as Chez Bruce and The Glasshouse in Kew, their menu is primarily French and no-nonsense, served in a setting that is both modern and restful. Often you can tell the quality by the little things and the bread there is dreamy. The cooking displays well-reined-in imagination.

They have an interesting wine list, including many by the glass, with an emphasis on France but with well-chosen examples from as far apart as California, New Zealand and Italy.
