Lady Florence River Cruise Restaurant Description

Just every so often it is our pleasure to bring you something completely different, and the Lady Florence is such a one. A former Admiralty MFV she was built in 1944, one of over 1000 designed to serve as supply boats, but in fact used for every task going. From personal experience I can testify that they are some of the toughest boats ever built.

The Lady Florence has a long record of providing cruises in the River Alde and Ore, which is in fact one river. Cruises start the day with a brunch version, lasting two and half hours from 0930 to 1200 during which an American style brunch is served. A champagne brunch can also be supplied as an alternative.

Lunch cruises run from 1200 to 1600; Dinner is also a four-hour cruise and runs at times dependent upon the time of year. The menu could be Orford smoked duck breast with fruit compote, baked fresh salmon with citrus herb crust, loganberry and apple crumble with fresh double cream.

The ship accommodates 12 people with comfort, and has loos on board. She is not subject to tidal restrictions. All bookings must be made in advance. There can be few better ways of spending a few hours idling round these East Anglian waters, enjoying good food and drink

Your Reviews of Lady Florence River Cruise Restaurant

Mrs. Brooks (1 October 2009)

Jim and I got married on the in July, 2009 and we wanted to do something different for our Reception. We decided on lunch on the Lady Florence on our Wedding day with family and dinner with friends on the 25th. We were made to feel very welcome as soon as we stepped on board. A champagne reception was quickly followed by a detailed run down of events from our captain, who continued to give an informative commentary during our river cruise. The food is served in a warm and cosy room seating twelve. The staff are friendly and the food is served in an efficient and unintrusive fashion. What is important however is the quality of the dishes, the depth of flavour and the variety of courses that are offered on a small boat! The combination of good food, fine wine, good friends and an excellent river cruise has made this event, for us, unforgettable.

Good morning! I have just had two wonderful cruises on the Lady Florence, the first for champagne brunch on a Thursday and the second on a Saturday for lunch, all to celebrate my significant birthday. Both days were memorable and I should thank all the crew members for the excellent service provided. The food on both occasions was delicious and all my friends and family, who joined me on the cruise, said what a wonderful time they had had and congratulated me on choosing the river cruise. Thank you once again for all the excellent hospitality and I look forward to seeing you again sometime in the future.
