I ate at Lairhillock Inn on Tuesday evening. It was my second visit and my daughter and I were the only people in the restaurant, which may have seemed a bad omen. Nothing could be further from the truth. We had a wonderful dinner of venison and beef, which was beautifully served. I doubt if the lady serving us believed me when I said I had a six hour journey ahead of me as I left the inn at half-past nine. It was an exaggeration - I arrived home five hours later. The only criticism I would make was that there was no table linen. The price was high, right enough, but justified.
