Lake Restaurant at St Michael's Manor Hotel Description

Gloriously situated within St. Michael's Manor Hotel, overlooking the well-manicured gardens and a lake, this conservatory-style restaurant certainly does make a good impression. The décor is elegant, with mirrors and artwork and the relaxed atmosphere helps guests settle in for that special celebration or Sunday lunch with the family.

The kitchen remains loyal to British cooking with some innovative touches and there is a range of menus waiting to be explored. Starters of confit rabbit and foie gras balantine with quince puree and potted salt beef with horseradish mousse and apple and mixed cress salad could be followed by a main course of twice cooked belly of pork with pan-fried whole langoustines, apple puree and sherry vinaigrette. Finish with roast peach in caramel crème brûlée or black cherry pannacotta with dark chocolate roulade and coffee sauce.

The Lake menu could feature a parsnip and cumin soup, smoked haddock risotto and iced Maltesers parfait with raspberry sorbet.

Your Reviews of Lake Restaurant at St Michael's Manor Hotel

Alex James (25 November 2008)

I have been to the Manor on several occasions, but not as much of late. The quality of food and service has deteriorated from what it was a year ago. I am not sure whether it is the lack of training or quality. For the sake of the Manor something needs to be done. It is also not as busy as it once was.

Sarah (29 September 2008)

We had heard good things about St Michael's Manor and decided to book Sunday lunch. We had to book a month in advance as they were fully booked, so expectations were high. However, we were very disappointed. We waited 50 minutes in the lounge to be seated, but on being seated saw several empty tables. The service was very poor, as members of staff were untrained and rude, and their approach to fine dining skills was cringe-worthy. My starter was cold but my main was good. Good food, beautiful setting but the staff mean we will not be returning.
