REVIEWS OF Lal Qilla
Diane (10 January 2011)
I found Lal Qilla on this web site and am always on the look out for new restaurants to try, so gave it a go. The parking was a bit of a problem but, luckily my companion has a disabled badge so we parked on a yellow line. The restaurant is quite big, airy and very modern which was nice and we got a warm welcome. We were offered drinks straight away and ordered popadoms and pickles. We weren't given any lime pickle, which was a shame, though I'm sure they would've given us some if we asked. The pickles were different to other Indian restaurants, the mango chutney had star anise in it so tasted very strange, the onion had an awful lot of cucumber in it and the mint sauce was quite sweet but it is all personal taste. We had garlic chicken chilli, lamb Madras, rice, naan, masala chickpeas and onion bhaji. It was all very nice, the meat was tender and tasty with lots of spice and sauce. The onion bhaji's were the best I've had in a long time and the rice was so nice and fluffy. So we enjoyed the whole meal. Unfortunately it was a bit quiet and we felt like the staff were watching us all the time, which was a bit off putting. Over all it was a very nice meal, with one glass of wine and a beer, plus a coffee it was £38.00. I would recommend the restaurant but maybe not the pickles.

I was treated to a lovely meal at Lal Qilla in Leatherhead and would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who’d like a fantastic menu, charming waiters and opulent surroundings. My chicken tikka main was the best I have had anywhere. I'm definitely going back soon. Thank you everyone.
