Comfort, luxury and style are but a few of the plus points one expects to find in a hotel and Melia White House manages to tick all the boxes. The bedrooms have been furnished to a high standard, infusing classic and contemporary elements and  L'Albufera is designed to be elegantly in keeping with the hotel's stylish theme that befits its four star status. Its weighty reputation has been further enhanced by winning an award for the Best Spanish Restaurant Outside Spain, a trophy handed out by the Spanish equivalent of DEFRA.

No Spanish menu is complete without its tapas selection, so a group of friends could perhaps bond over plates of homemade prawn and spinach and duck croquettes. The rice and pasta section demonstrates an explosion of interest in the Spanish paella with Canadian lobster, squid and prawns or the mixed version with corn-fed chicken and seafood. For a fruity-chocolatey kind of satisfaction choose a lime and chocolate crème brûlée with basil lime ice cream to finish.

It's no surprise to find that the wine list at L'Albufera is heavily influenced, and given the improvement in Spanish wines over recent years, this is a welcome discovery.
