Lalibela Restaurant
137 Fortess Road, London, NW5 2HR
This African eatery features two separate dining areas, low slung tables and an extensive menu. For the starters try delights such as samosa or shrimp on sugarcane. Mains include meat and fish dishes such as the highly popular tilapia fish and some beautifully spiced vegetarian and vegan options. Be sure to order plenty of the delicious injera bread to soak up all those wonderful sauces. Reviewed by Linda ButtleCaribbean, Ethiopian

REVIEWS OF Lalibela Restaurant
Tehuti Ra (7 May 2008)
I have been eating at Lalibela Restaurant for the past fifteen years and the food was of a very high standard. Since February 08, I felt the food was disappointing and the standard and quality of the cuisine appears to have lost its vitality and vibrancy. It is disappointing as it was my favourite restaurant where I have taken nearly a hundred people travelling to or living in the UK as the first port of call. Now I am unable to recommend it as before. On April 08 I decided to try once more. The staff were friendly, however the standard of food was again disappointing.

If you are looking for something different, this is it. Tucked away in unfashionable Tuftnell Park is this wonderful Ethiopean restaurant. Book early, especially for the weekends, and try and book a table on the upper level where you can enjoy the great decor.
Best enjoyed as part of a group, the food is something of a fusion of middle-eastern, north African and Indian with options for everyone, including the vegetarians amongst you. The curry-ish main dishes can be shared out on the main injera (unleavened) bread, mixing the sauces for a truly social meal. Definitely recommended.
