Lamb at Buckland, The Description
Lambs feature strongly, on the walls and the carpet, at this honest-to-goodness Cotswold pub in a gorgeous village setting, typical of the area. Wait till you reach the restaurant, decked out in quite formal style, so lunch in the bar but keep the restaurant for an evening treat. And treat it is!
Start with the soft herring roes or warm goat's cheese accompanied by a "proper" salad and progress to the Peruvian style pot-roasted pork or duck accompanied by apple and Calvados duck accompanied by apple and Calvados, perhaps leaving room for the mango cheesecake with raspberry sauce. Paul and Peta Barnard hold regular wine tastings and their interest is reflected in a serious list, a contender at any time for special recognition. Six house wines come in at £12.95 and there are another fifty or so from which to choose.

Don't rely on your SatNav to find The Lamb at Buckland. It's tucked away in the beautifully tranquil village of Buckland, but well worth the trouble in finding it. We enjoyed it so much that we went there on two consecutive nights. The fish was great and tasted fresh. It’s good value for money and we thoroughly recommend this place.

The Lamb is tucked away off the beaten track down a quiet lane. The welcome was very warm, (especially the dog!). The menu is short but packed full of tempting dishes, with a plethora of fresh fish, especially on a Friday when we dined.
Monkfish, scallops, brill, Dover sole and kedgeree were our choices and great they were, although the kedgeree was a little on the large side for my daughter! All in all well worth a visit.
