Langan's Bar & Grill

Situated on Old Brompton Road, London SW5, Langan's Coq d'Or is the most recent addition to the Langan's portfolio. Acquired and totally refurbished in May 1998, this bar and grill first opened its doors to the public in July the same year.

With its bright, elegant lighting and décor, the main body of the restaurant gives a feeling of spaciousness. This combined with their trademark; haphazard lampshades, hand-scripted menus and collection of fine art adorning the walls, give the place a very stylish ambience.

Its prime location attracts a diverse mix of local residents and business clientele and it's now firmly established as a favourite eatery of both the 'Society Set' of neighbouring Kensington and Chelsea and the exhibitors and performers appearing at the nearby Earl's Court Exhibition Centre.

An added feature of Langan's Coq d'Or is its long, covered terrace, sprawling along the frontage, which has become very popular for large or private parties. During fine weather the canopy can be rolled back allowing you to have just a light snack and a glass of wine or a full three courses whilst relaxing in the sunshine and watching the world go by.

The list of options is regularly reviewed and enhanced with new dishes to tempt even the fussiest palate. In addition, they have recently reformulated their ever popular weekend brunch and you may choose from a full English breakfast or a smoked salmon bagel through to a traditional roast of Angus rib of beef and Yorkshire pudding on Sundays.

Their weekday menu offers a selection of light dishes such as asparagus mousse or grilled mackerel on scallion mash and for those with a slightly larger appetite, there are a variety of favourites like salmon and forest mushrooms en croute or Langan's bangers and mash.

In the evenings they serve from an à la carte list including such delights as their signature dish, stilton souffle and spiced pears, followed by perhaps a daily special of basil stuffed leg of lamb or deep fish pie and minted peas. They also have tempting salads such as tempura squid with sweet chilli or hot mushroom on rocket and parmesan shavings. Finish your meal with a chocolate cheesecake and macerated raspberries or some strawberry shortbread with berry cream.

Langan's Coq d'Or has an informal and sensibly priced wine list comprising many of the most popular French wines interspersed with several from the New World, which are also available by the glass.
