This attractively named restaurant, formerly home to a baker's shop, with its attractive flower-bedecked exterior, now offers a far wider experience to a discerning clientele who show their appreciation in the time-honoured fashion. For slightly less than your twenty-two English pounds - long may they last - you could embark upon the gourmand meal, starting with marinated lamb salad with a minted red wine dressing. This could be followed cream of baby broad bean soup. You can rely upon it that your roasted monkfish tail will have had recent acquaintance with the sea and the wilted watercress and spinach and Tarragon and whole grain mustard dressing will match the freshness. Move then to the fillet of Cornish beef (probably personally known to the chef in a prior existence) with a Madeira and peppercorn sauce. The West Country cheeses and walnut bread and biscuits are a revelation, and if you can find space for even one of the selection of tempting puddings you are a man after my own heart. House wine at £8.65 is a worthy companion and the wider list is worth a second inspection.
