Lawsianos

London Road, Capel St Mary, Ipswich, IP9 2JR

Located in Capel St Mary near Ipswich, Lawsianos aims to bring an Italian fine dining experience to a wider audience by ensuring that diners don't feel rushed but relax over a meal. Situated within a 500 year old listed building, the wooden floors, oak beams and open fire places do their bit to create a convivial ambience. Smoked salmon on a bed of mixed lettuce, drizzled with dill mayonnaise and garnished with Parmigiano Regiano shavings is a good way to start, or a pasta course, perhaps, of tagliatelle with an infusion of three chopped salamis in a red wine and tomato sauce. The chefs make everything fresh from pizzas, meatballs, casseroles, meatloaf, sauces, to amaretto semifreddo.

Robust main courses include Italian herb and garlic crusted pork loin slices or sirloin steak with a cracked black pepper and brandy cream sauce. Choose between a hot apple pie and lemon cheesecake to finish.

REVIEWS OF Lawsianos

The Chunk (27 March 2009)

Having spent time looking for a good place to eat I have found one, one where I can take my family for a very enjoyable evening. The food was fantastic, mainly the pasta where the sauce was simply perfect. The staff were polite and very efficient, the waiting time for the food was not long at all, especially considering that the place was very busy. I will be visiting again very soon with all my friends and family. These negative comments are unfounded.

Love her (24 March 2009)

Capel St Mary has been calling out for a decent eatery for years but regret that it is still waiting. This old traditional pub has been given an Italian makeover but sadly it does not work. We had olives to start that were of the tinned pickled rubbery variety, followed by dry chewy pizza and bland tasteless omelette. The members of staff were friendly and smiley but Lawsianos is sadly a long way from being an Italian stallion.
