Le Caprice
Arlington Street, London, SW1A 1RJ
Celebrities love Le Caprice , a fact illustrated by the many celebrity photographs that adorn the walls; the decor remains a very cool - but amazingly atmospheric - black and white. Booking is essential and well in advance at that. On arrival grab a drink or two at the bar where you get a good opportunity to do some star spotting before making your way to your table. Start with a few oysters or a tomato and basil galette, before moving onto familiar favourites like grilled rib-eye steak, deep-fried haddock and chips, or more exotic seafood or grouse dishes. Prices remain surprisingly reasonable considering the popularity of Le Caprice, and though the original founders, Chris Corbin and Jeremy King, have departed some time ago, the standards have been maintained, and they still serve so many of their classic dishes that their legion of fans appreciate.Celebrities love Le Caprice, a fact illustrated by the many celebrity photographs that adorn the walls; the decor remains a very cool - but amazingly atmospheric - black and white.

REVIEWS OF Le Caprice
Nick (24 March 2009)
I was visiting London and was persuaded to go there by a friend who recommended it. I have to say I was impressed by the meal and service. I thought the food was excellent and the service was attentive without intruding. Though the bill was more than I would normally pay, it actually seemed quite reasonable for the meal my friend and I had just had. I intend to go back next time I am in London.
Maura Newman (22 November 2008)
Yes, most of the front of house members of staff are most pleasant, but the place is very cramped, and accessed by a perplexing revolving door without directional arrows. There is very little bar space so you really need to arrive exactly at the time you have booked, not early. It was delightful to spot Lorraine Chase who is slim as a willow wand tucking into her lunch. Having ordered a steak tartare as starter, completely without embellishment, it was surprising that the standard accompanying condiments arrived when the delicious steak was 3/4 consumed. It was also most distracting when the table was interrupted by the removal of excess glassware. In all honesty the food was acceptable, but nothing out of the ordinary. Two of the waiting staff were most amicable and this causes me to ask if the ‘discretionary’ tip really has its place? It was not a bad experience, but not as special as we had hoped for. As a p.s. the toilets were nothing special and could be problematic, should anyone have a mobility problem.
