Le Cassoulet
18 Selsdon Road, Croydon, CR2 6PA
With a name set to roll off your tongue like the delectable cuisine served, Le Cassoulet, meaning 'stew' is a strikingly elegant French inspired bistro located at Croydon. Started by Chef Malcolm John, the place is known for its wide ranging menu prepared in the rustic and home-style method reminiscent of France and its simple yet elegant life. Using only the freshest ingredients, the restaurant serves a variety of seasonal dishes such as cassoulet duck and pork; Dorset crab mayonnaise with avocado and avruga caviar; and hare ravioli with celeriac purée, grelotte onions and Chanterney carrots, which can be enjoyed by a couple or the whole family in a warm and intimate setting. The desserts offer a choice of plum clafoutis, with crème fraîche and Kerala vanilla crème brûlée, which is definitely worth giving a try.

REVIEWS OF Le Cassoulet
Everyone's A Critic (28 October 2009)
I went to Le Cassoulet last night with my partner and I am happy to say that we both enjoyed a beautiful meal. The service was very good and unlike some of the posh nosh restaurants, and believe me I’ve been to a few, the atmosphere was relaxed and enjoyable with a mixture of clientele. To start, my partner had the seared foie gras, onion chutney and pickled girolles and I had seared scallops, black pudding ravioli and alsace bacon. I actually had never eaten scallops before as I am not the biggest sea food fan. However, my partner dared me to try it and I'm really glad that he did. We both had a 28 day aged châteaubriand roast bone marrow, green beans and frites for our mains; it was so tender that you could have used a butter knife to cut the meat, our only disappointment was the tarte tatin which was overdone. However, that small blip didn’t take away the fact that this restaurant does good food. It’s definitely worth a visit and worth every penny.
