Le Gallois - Y Cymro Restaurant Description
A family restaurant, set up in 1998 by two families, with a cluster of impressive awards already to its credit, Le Gallois offers a daily changing lunch menu with an a la carte in the evenings.
There is clear evidence of dedication from within the kitchen as dishes such as cream of Jerusalem artichoke soup with black truffle are called into play. The saddle of rabbit enjoyed a good relationship of flavours and textures with the black pudding saltimbocca and was blessed with a herb risotto and rosemary veloute.
Puddings are an eclectic bunch and include a hot chocolate fondant with amaretto ice cream, a delicious rhubarb trifle and Ludo's banana plate, about which I will leave you a little room for speculation.
Wines enjoy particular attention at Le Gallois and a sound list offers good choices, plenty around the £20 mark.

What a wonderful experience it was as the food was second to none. It was one of the best, if not the best restaurant I have eaten in. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The cheeseboard has to be seen to believe it, and has a choice of well over a dozen different cheeses. As one vicar saying grace put it, ‘good place, good staff, good food, good God’.

An excellent gastronomic experience prior to rugby at the Millennium Stadium. Yes, the food will take time to appear, but for the standards set, patience is required and well earned. Allow three hours for a proper lunch! Not far short of the standard of some West End of London restaurants which have Michelin stars.
