Le Raj Restaurant Description

Le Raj is the proud holder of many an award, it's been raved about by celebrities such as Cilla Black and Chris Tarrant, as well as pleasing top restaurant critics. What's more amazing is that such a high profile restaurant is tucked away in the Epson Downs area. Most of the credit of Le Raj's success goes to head chef Ajibe Khan and his accomplished dishes such as succulent tandoori poussin, kata gosht which is a wonderful concoction of lamb with lentils, chillies and curry leaves and a good choice of vegetarian delights.

This is a special Indian restaurant, the food and presentation is really first class. Although it is pricey, you get what you pay for. Sadly after visiting this place more than half a dozen times now I shan't be returning. The service is simply too awful. My wife and I booked a table for 20:00 and finally left around 23:30 after a very long evening of waiting. It seems they value their take away trade more than the people who sat at the restaurant.

What a disappointment - I had been looking forward to going to Le Raj for so long. I did enjoy the food but unfortunately surly waiters, bad smell of candles in the bar area and a rather scruffy looking decor in very bright lighting, and the same music going round on a loop all night long dimmed my appreciation. I was sitting with dirty plates for about 25 minutes and was presented with an enormous bill for four.
