Le Sept Restaurant Description
Tucked away in one of Edinburgh's antique cobbled alleys you may have to persevere before you finally touch base, but persist, it really is worth it. Regularly offering three courses for only £12 at lunchtime, this is French country cooking at its best.
The special seafood menu is always well worth a look and pan-fried King prawns with garlic butter offer a whole new dimension to that simple dish. Steaks can be cooked to order with one of a variety of interesting accompaniments, not least the whiskey and honey butter or you may prefer the roast haunch of venison with a sticky red onion blackberry and raisin confit.
Their crepes are legendary and include an imaginative selection of fillings and come with their own béchamel sauce and topped with Jarlsberg cheese. Le Sept's own special house wine comes at £13 a bottle while a glass is good value also. The wine list itself is full of mainly French wines, carefully chosen and well-priced.

Your Reviews of Le Sept Restaurant
Emily (2 July 2008)
Having had pleasant meals at Le Sept in the past, I tried to take my parents there last night for an early dinner. We left before ordering thanks to the attitude of the staff. In an empty restaurant with four other diners, we were placed in a corner by the heating controls and a draughty open door, with a busker from the street so loud we could barely hear ourselves. When I asked if we could move we were told the only table available was downstairs. I then asked if the door could be closed rather than sit in an empty basement, only to be snapped at that it would get far too hot if they did that. Not a word of apology at being unable to provide a pleasant place to eat - instead the staff were exasperated that we'd asked them for anything. A meal out is as much about the surroundings and service as the food - one to avoid for the former, clearly.

When my wife and I ate there our meal was quite good. We enjoyed the starters, mains and the desserts. The service was polite and very fast, as there was no time between the starter and the main. We had to put a hold on dessert to let the first two courses settle.
