Your Reviews of Left Bank, The

Irish Gal (10 February 2008)

My first experience of The Left Bank was not so good, I am afraid. We were seated for nearly an hour before our order was taken and a further hour for food to be served. Starters of pork ribs and chicken satay were very good, however the main courses were poor. 1 ordered a rare steak and received a medium and the monkfish portion was tiny. It was drowned in a soup that dampened the flavours and the dessert was inedible, pineapple that was not fresh and a chile ice-cream that had far too much chile.

However the wine was lovely. Ian our waiter was very pleasant, even if he was very busy and we had to wait. I agreed with Ian that we will give the restaurant another try - maybe not for a wee while though and by then they may have got their act together!

Mark (17 January 2008)

It was very disappointing. The venue is really a bar, not a restaurant. I asked for the menu three times before I got one, and waited for another 45 minutes for a starter, which was of very poor standard. It is a very small return for what you pay. The chicken was undercooked, vegetables were soggy and full of oil. I will never go back.
